New York City Marathon is the largest marathon in the world and we regularly have a presence at this iconic event, one of the World Marathon Majors series. It’s regarded as quite a challenging course because of its hills and bridges and not one for a PB, but apparently no one had told our fantastic quartet of David, Paul, Andreja and Leona as they all smashed their PBs with awesome running! Respectively they ran 2:37:29, 2:53:28, 3:09:00 and 3:12:20! There was an extra special reward for Leona who received her Six Star Medal having completed all six World Marathon Majors, a fabulous achievement in itself! Even more impressively she ran each one faster than the one before! There was a fine run also for Catriona in her last race for the club before she moves to Australia.
Earlier in the day Chris had set the tone by running a brilliant PB of 2:54:48 at Porto Marathon!
Closer to home, on the fells Francis, Sam and Brian ran the Shepherds Skyline Fell Race organised by Todmorden Harriers in wet and muddy conditions. Deepak and Vijay ran Fell Hell, a challenging 10km race up and down the hills in North Wales.
On Sunday Rich P, Alan, Rick and Hannah ran the Tatton Park Half Marathon while Richard M ran the 10km on Saturday.
And for those not racing on a very misty Sunday morning we had our usual great selection of group runs led by our lovely volunteer run leaders.
Well done everyone!
