Hi #name
With our birthday weekend in Great Hucklow now less than 2 months away, here's a very very loose and flexible itinerary for the happenings πΊπ
There is still time to book on: book here
As a preview of the weekend here is the provisional itinerary
Arrivals Friday 4th July
We can arrive there from noon onwards, so if anyone isn't working, why not have an adventure on the Friday to get in the swing? Get your running shoes and bikes set to standby!
We're happy for people to bring their own packed meals, unless the majority of people want us to coordinate food, watch this space!
Saturday 5th July
Morning
9am Parkrun - the nearest option is Monsal Trail, which we expect many of us will opt to do
Main Body of Day
CYCLING
There's a fair few cyclists who are/ may be coming along and we've had at least one generous offer to lead a decent odyssey through the delightful nearby scenery, attractions and historical villages.
You can rent bikes at Hassop station along the Monsal trail for a leisurely wheel along the quiet "via estupendo", which has cafΓ©s and ice cream stops aplenty
Fantastico π₯
BEER RACING
One or two potential attendees have asked if it will be possible to come along AND compete in the Marple Beer Run.
Were happy to say we are listening and we're happy to give people lifts to the nearby train station where a train will take thee to Marple, and pick you up when you return to the station π€Έπ»
SWIMMING / (SUN)BATHING
Take a dip in the lovely waters at nearby Youlgreave and go early (or late) to avoid the crowds if it's a scorcher. Or check out Hathersage's heated lido
CULTURE (some with running options)
β’ Chatsworth House has a fab gardens and historical house, which were voted the nation's favourite in a poll a few years back
β’ Eyam - a famous and poignant village where they quarantined themselves to save other villages nearby whilst the Great Plague decimated their village
β’ Cromford Mill - where the industrial revolution kicked off, there's fabulous history tours there and I know a great running route starting from the village
β’ Grindleford Gallop - an immense running route which we have located on GPX files, it goes via Chatsworth and Eyam and plenty more beside
Evening
Board games, rounders, a disco in the barn, carousing, singing and high spirits are always the order of the evening on a CR party weekend
And there's campfire facilities there too...
Once it's closer to the time we'll investigate whether to find a nearby pub or restaurant to eat for the evening, get a massive takeaway ordered, or whatever people indicate they'd like to do for food
Sunday 6th July
Quite a few of us are planning to run or cheer the Great Hucklow Fell Race, a beginner friendly race which is part of the Black Sheep Championship calendar
Because of this, the centre have kindly agreed the deadline for us leaving is going to be 6pm, a few hours later than the normal kicking out time...
...leaving lots of flexibility for those not wanting to attend the race - to make the most of their final day
