Couch to 5k graduates brave the rain to smash their 5ks

Our latest Couch to 5K group completed their 5k graduation runs at South Manchester parkrun in Platt Fields Park on Saturday 22 July - accompanied by an army of Chorlton Runners team-mates who were there to volunteer, run and cheer!

Eight runners braved the wet, soggy conditions to complete the two lap 5k course – marking then culmination of 10 weeks training in our latest free Couch to 5K.

Over 10 weeks the course takes new runners from not running at all to completing a 5k run non-stop.

Under the supervision of John Etherson, who led the programme, participants began by running one minute at a time to confidently completing 5K.

The group met twice each week on Tuesdays at the Bowling Green and on Sundays at Tree Tops Café at Sale Water Park to take part in the programme.

We hope you’ll now continue to join our progression group at the club and become members.

Thank you to all our existing members who helped with the Couch to 5K programme.

If you would like to join our next Couch to 5K programme watch this space for further announcements coming soon on here and our social media channels. There’s more information about what it involves on our C25K page.

The club offers runners of all abilities opportunities to run and socialise in a friendly and supportive environment.

If you would like to join us for a run, please come to our Sunday Morning Run.
